This Privacy Policy explains what information is collected when you use Sound Booster (package name: com.soundboost.app, the "App") and how it is handled. The App works without any sign-up, and the developer does not collect or store personally identifying information such as your name, email address or phone number.
1. Audio processing (most important)
The App's core function is to control and amplify the media audio playing on your device. This works as follows.
- No recording — The App does not request microphone permission (RECORD_AUDIO) and never records or collects your voice or ambient sound.
- On-device only — Amplification is performed entirely on your device using Android's built-in audio effect APIs. The audio being played is never transmitted anywhere.
- No knowledge of content — The App does not collect information about which app is playing what.
2. Permissions the App does NOT request
Following a minimum-permission principle, the App does not request: location, phone, contacts, microphone, camera, photo/media file access, usage access, or biometrics. It also does not replace your default launcher (home screen).
3. Permissions the App uses
- Modify audio settings — Used for the App's core volume and audio effect control.
- Post notifications — Used to show boost status and allow volume control from the notification.
- Foreground service — Keeps your boost setting active while the App is in the background.
- Bluetooth connection — Detects headphone/earphone connection so the hearing-protection cap can be applied. The App works normally if you deny it.
- Internet / network state — Used to serve ads and to send feedback.
4. Information stored on your device
Your settings — boost level, presets, whether onboarding was completed — are stored only on your device and are not sent to the developer's servers. They are removed when you uninstall the App.
5. Advertising (Google AdMob)
The App is free and displays Google AdMob ads. To serve and measure ads, AdMob may collect your advertising ID, approximate (IP-based) location and device information. This is collected and processed by Google; the developer does not access it in a form that identifies individual users.
- Google's policy: policies.google.com/privacy
- Users in the EEA and UK are shown a consent form (UMP) on first launch, and can change their choice at any time from the App's settings.
- You can reset your advertising ID or opt out of personalized ads in your device settings.
6. Feedback and bug reports
Only when you actively submit feedback from the App's settings, the text you wrote, any images you attached (optional), the app version and an anonymous device identifier are sent to the developer's server. This is used solely to respond to your enquiry and fix problems. Nothing is sent unless you submit it.
7. Children's privacy
The App is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from them.
8. Your rights
Because the App stores no personally identifying information, there is no separate access or correction procedure. Settings stored on your device can be fully removed by uninstalling the App or clearing its data in your device settings. If you would like feedback you submitted to be deleted, please email us at the address below.
9. Safety notice
Volume above 100% is amplified beyond your device's normal limit. Extended listening at high volume can damage your hearing, and the loudest settings may distort your speaker. The App provides safeguards such as a headphone cap and automatic fade-down, but responsibility for how you use it remains with you.
10. Changes
If this policy changes, the updated text and its effective date will be posted on this page.
